You will attract people based on your reputation sometimes. You are the one who is most in control over your reputation and I want all of you out there to attract the best God has to offer you. God has great friends in store, a great job, perhaps a great spouse, and much more. But a bad reputation based on personal choices can be rough. In Proverbs 22:1 God's word says "A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold." But you can't hide a sin filled life behind a good reputation either. Jesus beats down the pharisees by saying "You Pharisees and teachers are show-offs, and you're in for trouble! You wash the outside of your cups and dishes, while inside there is nothing but greed and selfishness." (Matthew 23:25) Jesus knows our insides.
So...
What's your dating/sex life like? pure? messy?
What's your mouth like? cussing? dirty jokes?
How well or how poorly are you representing yourself? your family? your church? Jesus Christ?
Reputations are multifaceted. And in life they matter (it's not all about high school). So think about what you're doing before you do it. Think about how you want to be and what kind of difference you want to make.
"Character is always lost when a high ideal is sacrificied on the altar of conformity and popularity." Charles H. Spurgeon
